The Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps has a distinguished history of service to the youth of Canada. The Cadet program is a vehicle by which young people learn to be leaders and good citizens in preparation for the responsibilities of adulthood. Presently there are over 2000 Army Cadets in 40 Army Cadet Corps within the communities of Alberta. Our Cadet Corps are comprised of youth, 12 to 18 years of age, from various economic and cultural backgrounds.
The Army Cadet League of Canada - Alberta Branch works in partnership with the Department of National Defence in the conduct and delivery of the Cadet program. Although the Department of National Defence provides funding for mandatory training there are many aspects of training considered optional training, funded through the League and local support.
The League also provides honours and awards for outstanding Cadets who serve, not only their Cadet Corps but their communities as well. These young people often have a profound effect on the future of Canada as many go on to become leaders in our society; in Business, Government, and Education.
